Rights of patients and codes of medical ethics – 5 ECTS Xenofon Contiades – Michalis Fefes Course description The course addresses the special provisions included in the Code of Medical Ethics and the way in which they are applied in the doctor - patient relationship. In addition it examines the legal and ethical issues set by artificial insemination. The course focuses on: a. Eligibility and prerequisites for acquiring medical assistance in human reproduction (special emphasis is placed on consent of all persons involved). Objectives The course aims to offer a comprehensive analysis of the codes of medical ethics which provide the basic toolkit for establishing the rights and obligations of doctors and patients. Learning outcomes Students should develop skills that will allow them to understand and analyse how the codes of medical ethics work in relation to the issues set by reproductive technologies.
