Health Economics – 7,5 ECTS Mary Geitona Course Description It is an introductory course that presents and comparatively analyses healthcare systems based on the criteria of effectiveness, efficiency and equity in the access and use of health care. Health care market is analytically presented compared to the free market principles as well as their macro and micro effects are discussed. Emphasis is given on the management and economic evaluation of health technology (HTA). Objectives The students are expected to be able to understand and critically analyse: Learning Outcomes Development of generic competences: understanding, critical analysis and comparison of basic concepts in the field of health economics and health technology assessment (HTA).
