ICT in Education (e-learning Ι) – 5 ECTS

Course description

This module provides a broad overview of learning technologies, their associated features, and the ways in which they can be used to foster different pedagogical approaches and enhance learning.

The main topics of the module include:

  • Technology-enhanced learning
  • Pedagogy and ICT in education
  • Digital media and digital content
  • Learning design and ICT
  • ICT integration models, educational policy and teachers’ preparation.

Objectives

Postgraduate students will have the opportunity to explore and critically study the technological, pedagogical, instructional and contextual issues that determine the framework for integrating learning technologies in education.

Learning outcomes

After having completed this module, students will be able

  • to experience a range of technologies and reflect on their implications for learning, instruction and research
  • to review and debate the theoretical underpinnings of e-pedagogies
  • to apply their knowledge and skills to design and implement learning interventions by using a range of resources, tools and methods
  • to critique current pedagogical approaches and how they can be fostered by different learning technologies
  • to critically examine current models and policies for the integration of ICT in educational practice
  • to conceptualise and construct a complete view of ICT in education as an independent research field.

Structure

The module comprises lectures, practice and a series of individual and collaborative activities implemented through the e-learning platform (http://moodle.korinthos.uop.gr).

Students’ assessment

Students’ assessment is based on their participation in on-line activities, individual learning design assignments and their group-work project during the module timeline.
