Andreas Feronas is an Assistant Professor in Social Policy at the Department of Social and Educational Policy, University of the Peloponnese. He graduated from the Department of Sociology, University of Crete, he got his Master’s degree in the Analysis of European Social Policy from the University of Bath, UK (Erasmus scholarship) and his Ph.D in Social Policy from Panteion University, Athens (IKY scholarship). He has taught at the Department of Sociology, University of Crete (2001-2004), he has worked as an expert at the Ministry of Employment and Social Protection (2003-2008) and at the National Centre for Public Administration (2008-2009) and he has been a Member of the Employment Committee (EMCO) of European Union (2004-2008). He teaches at the National School of Public Administration and is he is a collaborative staff member in the Greek Open University. He is the author of three monographs: Poverty and Social Exclusion in Europe and Greece: Concepts, perceptions, policies (2004, Sakkoulas), The Europeanization of Social Policy: Theoretical Perspectives, Methodological Problems and the Greek Experience (2013, Dionicos) and Social Exclusion and Social Solidarity in Greece in Times of Crisis (2019, Dionicos). He has co-edited (with Ch. Economou) the collective volume, The Outsiders: Poverty and social Exclusion in Modern Societies (2006, Dionicos). He has also published a number of articles in international scientific journals. His research interests focus on poverty and social exclusion, social solidarity and the Europeanization of social policy.
