Michalis Fefes, Ph.D.

Michalis Fefes was born in Patras, Greece, on 1965.  He is currently an Assistant Professor of European Institutions and Social Economy at the Department of Social and Educational Policy at the University of Peloponnese, Greece. He received his Ph.D. in European Community Law from the Faculty of Laws, University College London, UK.  He got scholarships by the European University Institute-Florence, June-July 1993, the Onassis Foundation (1990-1991) and the National Scholarships Foundation Scholar, 1991-1994.  He has been a stagiaire at the European Commission and held a Research Fellowship at the European University Institute-Florence. Prior to his current position, he has served as a teaching fellow at the University of Peloponnese and the University of Ioannina.  He is also working as a lawyer and legal consultant in various areas of Greek and European Union Law.  His research interests lie in the sector of social economy focusing basically on co-operatives and the European Co-operative Society.  He has published three books and over 25 articles in journals, conference proceedings and books.  He has also participated in international R&D projects.
