Welcome by the President

Dear students,

On behalf of the teaching and administrative staff, I welcome you to the Department of Social and Educational Policy and the University of Peloponnese. Having completed 20 years of operation, our Department is ranked among the top departments of the University of Peloponnese in terms of the quality of education provided and research activity.

The common mission of the institutionalized directions of Social Policy and Educational Policy, the interdisciplinarity and the coupling between theory-scientific research-practical application define the academic character of our Department. These elements characterise all the programmes offered: the Undergraduate Programme of Studies, the five modern Postgraduate Programmes and the Pedagogical Competence Programme.

The Department of Social and Educational Policy is distinguished for the multidimensional research activity of its members and its strong extroversion, which is certified by the implementation of important European and national research and development projects, the collaborations with foreign universities, as well as the connection with the local society and the wider region of the Peloponnese.

The systematic efforts of the Department's professors and lecturers are focused on the continuous improvement of the quality of the educational work and the connection between teaching and research, with the ultimate goal of substantially enhancing the learning achievements of our students. Our main goal is to help students develop a solid scientific background and acquire the skills and competences needed to achieve their goals as scientists, as future professionals, as critical thinkers and active citizens in the society of the 21st century.

We welcome with great pleasure the first-year students who have chosen to study in our Department. We warmly congratulate you on your success with the reminder that the journey of learning is painful but, in the end, fascinating because it will reward you with significant experiences, successes and joys. We know that you are starting your academic life with appetite, aspirations and many dreams. We wish you that the next four years of your studies will be a creative learning adventure for all of you.
