Since the 2017-18 academic year, the Department has implemented the Academic Advisor system. At the beginning of each academic period, every first-year student is assigned an Academic Advisor from the faculty members of the Department. A list of advisors, along with their email addresses and office hours, is provided to new students, with assignments made alphabetically.

Role of Academic Advisors

Academic Advisors:

  • Assist students in completing their studies in an optimal and efficient manner.
  • Help resolve any challenges that may arise during their studies.
  • Guide students on course selection, minimizing exam failures.
  • Offer advice on specialization choices, elective courses, internship placements, etc., based on students' interests.

Students can discuss any academic matter with their advisor, as well as personal challenges (e.g., family, psychological, financial, or health issues) that might affect their studies.

Communication & Meetings

Students are required to meet with their Academic Advisor at least twice per academic year:

  1. During course selection for the fall semester.
  2. After exam results are released to review academic progress.

Additional meetings can be arranged, when necessary, either at the advisor’s request or at the student’s initiative. Conversations are confidential, and personal data is protected.

Reassignments & Changes

  • If an advisor is unavailable for an extended period (e.g., study leave, suspension, health reasons), a new advisor is assigned.
  • In exceptional cases, students may request a different advisor by explaining their reasons to the Department Chair, who is responsible for assessing the request on a case-by-case basis.

Faculty Support

Faculty members are available for student consultations during designated office hours, which are announced at the beginning of each semester on the Department's website. These sessions provide to students the opportunity to seek academic guidance, discuss coursework, and engage in scholarly dialogue with their instructors.
